Variants In Colours Of Change was performed by Chung Cheng High School (Main) Concert Band on the 10th December 2006. It was a great show held at the Singapore Conference Hall. I was there with my friend to support one of our best friend and what I can say is....I simply love the music and the performance arranged. Especially the Seagate Overture, Japanese Graffiti & Tico-Tico pieces.
1. RHAPSODY IN BLUE is a musical composition by George Gershwin which starts off with the famous clarinet opening. The rhapsody is a lively piece with flavors of swing, rock and jazz rhythms.
2. EL CUMBERCHERO is a classic Latin tune which starts off with a fiery opening production number. After the majestic introduction, this piece generates excitement all the way to the last chord. El Cumberchero contains some sudden rhythmic shifts that will have you leaping out of your chair.
3. SEAGATE OVERTURE is an opening work for the annual conference of a music school in Teledo, Ohio. It is written by James Swearingen in 1987. This piece promises a nautical feel and lots of flashy solos.
4. JAPANESE GRAFFITI is a fusion between the traditional Japanese music and modern tunes. The delectable mixture of styles, colours and characters provides a delicate balance between the old and new.
5. TICO-TICO has been a perennial favourite with instrumentalists for over 60 years. It is a fast and lively song and Brazilian musicians often give their own unique spin to this well-known tune.
